The ECU Pirates enter their game against Navy seeking a fifth consecutive win, just two days after the official introduction of Blake Harrell as new head coach (promoted from interim). Harrell led the Pirates to a 4-0 record as interim following the firing of former coach Mike Houston.

Navy, meanwhile, has lost three of their last four games, including a 35-0 shutout to Tulane.

The Midshipmen were shut out for the first time since a 15-0 loss to Army in 2020.

“Not that we were killing it when Blake was out there, but it certainly hurt to lose him,” Navy coach Brian Newberry said. “He's a good player, but it's next-man-up mentality around here.”

Rahjai Harris rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns and East Carolina scored 24 third-quarter points to rally and beat North Texas 40-28 on Saturday.

Harris scored on a 1-yard run at the end of the first half for the Pirates (7-4, 5-2 American Athletic Conference) after the Mean Green (5-6, 2-5) had taken a 21-0 lead, and then he kicked off the big third quarter with a 39-yard score. Andrew Conrad booted a 38-yard field goal and Katin Houser threw a 50-yard TD pass to Anthony Smith and a 28-yarder to Yannick Smith to lead 31-21.

The line on this game opened as a PICK'EM with East Carolina now at -2.5.  We get a number from Sagarin of Pirates 0.84, indicating an overlay.
