On January 9th, the day after Michigan won the CFP National Championship, BetOnline.ag released their 2024 Heisman Trophy odds.

A lot has changed since then but most importantly:

Some quarterbacks without teams due to them transferring weren’t on the initial list. Here are some:

            Cam Ward
            KJ Jefferson
            Tyler Shough
            Jayden Maiava
            Maalik Murphy

A few freshmen were added:

            Dylan Raiola
            Julian Sayin
            Austin Mack

Other upperclassmen added:

            Arch Manning
            Donovan Edwards
            Kyron Drones
            Garrett Greene
            Ashton Jeanty
            Darius Taylor
            Kaidon Salter
            Payton Thorne
            Rocco Becht
            Thomas Castellanos

*J.J. McCarthy declared for the draft and is no longer on the list:
*CJ Baxter is not on the list anymore as he is out for the year.

What Are the Most Significant Changes in the Heisman Odds for 2024?

Answer: Dillon Gabriel is now favored to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy after opening with the 4th shortest odds while Cameron Rising has seen the biggest move from 75/1 odds to 33/1 odds.

Gabriel is at his third school in four years.  He is +700 to win the Heisman for Oregon, which will be playing in the Big 10 for the first time..  Georgia quarterback Carson Beck right behind at +750. It's easy to make the case for both QBs to win the Heisman.

Here’s a side by side comparison of the odds from January 9th and the odds of today to win the Heisman Trophy.

Here are some notes on the odds changes over the past 7.5 months.

Jalen Milroe was the initial favorite and Dillon Gabriel was fourth. They have since switched places.
Players whose odds got significantly shorter (not including new additions):
Miller Moss went from 50/1 to 22/1.
Avery Johnson and Jalon Daniels went from 50/1 to 28/1.
Cameron Rising went from 75/1 to 33/1.
Brady Cook went from 50/1 to 33/1.
Players whose odds got significantly longer:
Conor Weigman and Jackson Arnold went from 18/1 to 40/1.
Cade Klubnik went from 28/1 to 80/1.
Will Rogers went from 28/1 to 125/1 and from Mississippi State to Washington.
Tyler Van Dyke went from 66/1 to 150/1.

Note: Arrows down meant the odds got shorter and the player’s odds improved to win the Heisman. Arrow up, means player’s odds got longer as did their chances to win the Heisman. OTB means off the board.
