Could the Oklahoma Sooners Cover the Spread Against Texas This Week?
Our play this week will be on the Sooners to cover the +5 point line in Texas.
The line on this game has moved from a high of -7 Texas at Bovada all the way down to -4.5 at Pinnacle. Keep in mind that 75% of the spread action (around $300K) was on the Longhorns on Friday. By Saturday morning this amount was closer to $550K with 68% of the action on Texas and the line moving to -4.5 most books. Pinnacle was still holding at -4.5 Saturday morning. Bookmaker was at -5 but had come off the -5.5 and -6. BetOnline was at -4.5. Bovada had dropped to -4.5.
This one dropped to -4 at some books an hour prior to the game, including Bookmaker. 68% of the action was on Texas at this number.
Sagarin had Texas -2.5 as both teams sit among the Top 5 of their ratings.
Neither has a loss. And if Oklahoma does cover here, they would be 6-0 Against The Spread. It's actually quite rare for a team to have covered in all five of their first games in any season.
Since 2018, Oklahoma is 4-1 in this series.
We were actually the first (and only) cappers to make a pick on this game overnight Friday at the G911 Sports Hub.
This game is among the main attractions in Week 6 of the college football season and one of three games matching teams in the AP Top 25.
"Everybody knows what time it is," Oklahoma wide receiver Jayden Gibson said. "Everybody in our locker room knows what time it is. I know what time it is."
This will mark the 43rd time both teams in this rivalry come into the game ranked.
While Texas knocked off mighty Alabama earlier in the season, this will be the Sooners first time facing a ranked opponent in 2023.
