The first purpose-built esports arena in the Western Hemisphere is coming to South Philadelphia.
The Fusion Arena will be a $50 million, 3,500 seat modern colosseum will be home base for the Philadelphia Fusion pro team.
Professional-level esports are predicted to generate $1.1 billion in 2019 through a combination of sponsorship, media deals and more.
Even more money can be generated through eSports betting as sportsbooks begin cropping up in and around the Phildelphia area. Betting on eSports is becoming big business and will likely be permitted in Pennsylvania.
The live-betting esports platform Unikrn had its wagering license approved by the Isle of Man last October, paving the way for eSports gambling opportunities throughout much of Europe, South Korea, and other Asian countries as well as portions of Latin America and in U.S. states that legalize sports wagering. Unikrn's platform had previously been approved in the UK and Australia.
Most online websites currently accessible to U.S. residents from abroad already feature their own eSports wagering platform.
The Philadelphia arena in conjunction with area sportsbooks should drive more betting on professional gaming events.
