“Black Mass”, the film starring Johnny Depp as Boston mobster James “Whitey” Bulger, is set to hit theatres September 18.

Set in 1970’s South Boston, the film looks at Bulger’s work as an informant for the FBI in an effort to destroy rival Mob factions.

Depp, an accomplished Hollywood performer, says this is “his favorite movie he’s ever worked on,” according to producer Tyler Thompson.  And Depp has been in plenty of films, so that is certainly saying a lot.

“It’s a return to form for him, and it’s the type of role you haven’t seen him in in a long time. He and [director] Scott Cooper had amazing chemistry,” he said.

“He’s playing a real-life scary sociopath, and he nailed it,” said co-producer Brian Oliver. “Everyone wants to really see Johnny Depp do this role.”

Let’s watch the trailer below.
