“The Revenant” was coming in at -250 odds while “Spotlight” had the next shortest odds at +240 for a potential payout of $24 for every $10 bet.

“The Revenant” is based in part on Michael Punke's novel with the same title focusing on the experiences of a frontiersman and fur trapper Hugh Glass in 1823, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who is a huge -8000 favorite to win.

“Spotlight” looks at the oldest continuously operating newspaper investigative unit in the United States and its controversial probe into the epidemic sexual abuse allegations lodged against Roman Catholic Priests in the Boston area.  That series of reports ultimately earned The Globe a 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.
