Slumdog Millionaire

The Best Picture odds for 2009 had Slumdog Millionaire as the very big favorite at most online gambling websites.

A review of five such sites by Gambling911.com found that nearly all had Slumdog Millionaire requiring a $10 bet or more just to win $1.  Not so at Sportsbook.com.

Slumdog Millionaire Best Picture odds were listed at -300, meaning you only had to bet $3 to win $1.  Of course, assuming Slumdog were to take home the Oscar, you would get back your initial $3 bet plus the $1 profit.

"Honestly, I had to put my glasses on to double check those odds at Sportsbook.com and then I refreshed the page three times to make sure I was seeing that number correctly," says Payton O'Brien of Gambling911.com.  "Those are some great odds that probably won't be available for long considering how everyone else had Slumdog Millionaire at -1000 or greater."

In order to get the -300, you would need to lock them in at that number, and Sportsbook.com was likely to make these odds much greater by day's end.  Otherwise, this is an absolute steal as far as we are concerned.

Set and filmed in India, Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of a young man from the slums of Mumbai who appears on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (Kaun Banega Crorepati, mentioned in the Hindi version) and exceeds people's expectations, arousing the suspicions of the game show host and of law enforcement officials.

Gambling911.com, considered the authority when it comes to Oscar betting odds, will be reporting around the clock.  The Academy Awards is the third most bet on single day event of the year and the biggest nonsporting event bet on outside of the US Presidential Elections.
