Dancing With The Stars

After just one week, three Dancing With The Stars contestants found themselves in a three way tie to be declared favorites to win the popular ABC dance competition while ratings for the show surged.

Shawn Johnson, the Olympian gymnast, had her best value yet with a payout potential of $2 for every $1 bet at Sportsinteraction.com.  Previously, she was listed at Even.

Melissa Rycroft, who replaced an injured Jewel, came in with odds that pay slightly better than $2 for every $1 bet while Giles Marini would pay just shy of $3.

Lil Kim slipped a bit (not literally).  Her odds were now at 8/1 (or +800) for the payout potential of $8 with every $1 bet.

Chuck Wicks was faring slightly better with odds of +650 for a payout potential of $6.50 on every $1.00 bet.

Denise Richards pays $12 for every $1 bet.  One of the nicest guys in the world, Lawrence Taylor, pays $16 for every $1 bet.  Steve-O pays $22 for every $1 bet.  David Allan Grier pays $25 for every $1 bet.  Holly Madison pays $28 for every $1 bet.  Belinda Carlisle pays $40 for every $1 bet.  Ty Murray pays $50 for every $1 bet.  Steve Wozniak pays $100 for every $1 bet.

Unlike American Idol, which continues to see its  ratings decline (even though it's still a powerhouse), Dancing With The Stars has defied the odds itself.

The Hollywood Insider offered up a possible explanation or two:

"Maybe Bachelor jiltee Melissa Rycroft brought the ratings momentum with her, or maybe America is as obsessed with jailbird Lil' Kim's ballroom dancing as I am. But for whatever reason, ABC's Dancing With the Stars quickstepped up to its highest season-premiere ratings ever Monday night with 22.5 million viewers -- that's 10.8 million more than second-place Fox garnered in the same two-hour period."
