Heath Ledger

What will Heath Ledger's odds to win an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor be?  20/1, 30/1, 50/1, why not 100/1 odds.

"It's pretty much a presumed belief that Heath Ledger will win this award and I even wonder if online gambling websites will be posting odds on Ledger," said Payton O'Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website.

Ledger - as expected - was nominated along side Josh Brolin, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robert Downey Jr. and Michael Shannon in the "Best Supporting Actor" category.

It is the one year anniversary of his untimely death.  Should Ledger win for his portrayal of "The Joker" in "Dark Knight", he would become only the second actor to win an Academy Award after his death.

While there have been a number of posthumous nominations (actor James Dean among the more notable), the only person to be nominated posthumously and actually win was screenwriter Sidney Howard for Gone With the Wind (1939).

The Academy Awards is the third most bet on single day event of the year following the Super Bowl and Kentucky Derby.

Odds will be published at betED.com
