Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in Latest Gambling Flick ‘Mississippi Grind’
Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal is getting set to film the latest gambling themed film, “Mississippi Grind”.
The directing duo of Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden are behind the project. Both previously directed Ryan Gosling to a best actor Oscar nomination for “Half Nelson”.
Hollywood Reporter provided a description of the upcoming film:
The story centers on a down-on-his-luck gambler facing crushing debt who teams up with a younger gambling addict (Gyllenhaal) in an attempt to change his luck. The two set off on a road trip through the South with visions of winning back what has been lost. The lead character would be a plum role for Hollywood's fortysomething set.
Another gambling-oriented film is currently being shot in and around San Juan, Puerto Rico. “Runner, Runner” is written by the same two gentlemen who brought us “Rounders”, Brian Koppelman and David Levien. It stars Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake.
Timberlake’s character being cheated out of his college tuition money while playing online poker (maybe at Full Tilt Poker?).
Timberlake then travels to Costa Rica – where the poker site is located – in hopes of getting his money back.
