Jessica Simpson Saints Curse Unlikely: Dating Former Player

Perhaps nobody in the NFL is hated more by fans than pop sensation Jessica Simpson (at least Dallas Cowboys fans).

The Cowboys loyalists blamed Simpson for distracting their star quarterback Tony Romo at games in which she attended, including pivotal Playoffs matchups.  At the time the two were dating.

She was even photographed with Romo in Mexico while he was supposed to be practicing with the team.  Dallas went on to get beaten by the New York Giants that year.  The Giants (not the Cowboys) went on to be crowned the Super Bowl champions against the undefeated New England Patriots.

Now there is concern that the Jessica Simpson "curse" could be passed on to this year's reigning Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints.

She is dating former Saints tight end Eric Johnson.  Thankfully for Saints fans, Johnson hasn't played with the team since 2007.  He is, however, a free agent.

In some circles, Simpson rivals that of the "Madden Curse".

Prior to 1999, every annual installment of the Madden NFL series primarily featured John Madden on its cover.[29] In 1999, Electronic Arts selected Garrison Hearst to appear on the PAL version's cover, and has since featured one of the league's top players on every annual installment.[30] Since then, much like the Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx, certain players who appeared on Madden video game box art have experienced a decline in performance, usually due to an injury.
