Lost Finale

The Lost finale will be broadcast this coming Sunday and Bookmaker.com, the oldest established online gambling site catering to North American bettors, has posted odds on the show and all the possible outcomes.

It's not entirely unusual for online gambling websites to post odds on pre-taped shows.  Bookmaker.com regularly offered odds on the HBO hit television show The Sopranos.

You can bet on anything now. But it's tricky guessing the outcome of ABC's "Lost," which wraps up its run Sunday night, writes Walt Belcher of the Tampa Tribune.

Odds being offered on the Lost finale at Bookmaker.com include:

  • Michael's son, Walt, will make an appearance, +1,000 (9 percent).  This one would pay $100 for every $10 bet.
  • The Man in Black/Smoke Monster will use Desmond to destroy the island, +500 (17 percent).  This one would pay $50 for every $10 bet.
  • Jacob will be revealed as the true bad guy, +180 (35 percent).  This one would pay $18.50 for every $10 bet.
  • The parallel survivors will return to the island and battle themselves, +300 (25 percent).  This one would pay $30 for every $10 bet.
  • The entire island was a dream, +2,500 (4 percent).  This one would pay out $250 for every $10 bet.
  • Juliet will be revealed as the mother of Jack's son, +120 (45 percent).  This one would pay out $12 for every $10 bet and is the favorite.
  • One of the last four (Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer) will die in the finale, +150 (40 percent).  This one pays $15.
  • The Man in Black/Smoke Monster will get off the island, +340 (22 percent).  This one pays $34.

Critically acclaimed and a popular success, Lost garnered an average of 16 million viewers per episode on ABC during its first year. It has won numerous industry awards including the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2005, Best American Import at the British Academy Television Awards in 2005, the Golden Globe for Best Drama in 2006 and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series.

As of press time Thursday evening, Bookmaker.com did not have Over/Under odds on the ratings for the Lost finale.

Its airtime with commercials is two-and-a-half hours, 9-11:30 p.m. EDT Sunday.
