FanDuel Refunds Following Sunday NFL Kickoff Downtime?

OAKLAND PARK, Fla (Gambling911.com) - FanDuel's app was down for a good chunk of their customers during the critical hours leading into Sunday's NFL kickoff and many players continue to be irate coming into Monday.

John tweeted: "Unless @FanDuel @FanDuel_Support wakes up and decides to refund the slate, I won’t be able to recommend their DFS product going forward. Completely insane that they’re still radio silent.".

Anthony writes: "They have had real strong issues for the past few years.  This one was ultimately the worst as this is the first time you were not able to change your lineup multiple hours before kickoff. A forced line lock at 11am, no piblic announcement, it’s insane."

Nate asked: "How about the fact that they said the entire slate was money back even if you lose and then just didn’t give money back…Utter disaster."

FanDuel has yet to explain the outage and has not offered plans for any refund of players.

According to DownDetector, Fanduel users reported problems around 11 a.m. EST Sunday, about two hours before the first NFL Sunday of the season.

There were more than 300 reports of problems, and "Is Fanduel down" was trending on Ggoogle. So was "fanduel content unavailable."

Downdetector reported that the biggest problem was being able to get on the app, and that's where about 70 percent of reports were about.  This appeared to be rectified some time after the early 1 pm EDT kickoff.

The period between 11 am EDT and 1 pm EDT Sunday Week 1 NFL is typically the most high demand time frame for sports bettors in North America.  During the early 2000's as offshore sportsbooks began to explode in size, with a reliance primarily on bets placed by phones, entire phone banks would crash the hour leading up to the NFL 1 pm EDT games.  Gambling911.com was present during the 2000 and 2001 seasons to witness this first hand at what was then the largest offshore sportsbook catering to those in North America.
