Costa Rica Stuns Uruguay, Italy: 4000 to 1 Odds to Win World Cup 2014
The first time in history that Costa Rica has scored three goals in a World Cup as they stunned heavily favored Uruguay 3-1. Now they beat heavily favored Italy 1-0 and advance out of the Group Stage. Unbelievable!
Costa Rica came into this year’s FIFA World Cup as the biggest long shot to win at 400-1 odds. These odds continue to be slashed.
Uruguay entered the first half with a 1-0 lead. Costa Rica managed to score two quick goals in the second half followed by a third goal later in the game.
BetDSI.com, which is based out of Costa Rica, noted that their national team showed some attacking flair during qualifiers and Bryan Ruiz was at the heart of their best moves, and he’ll be their key player going forward. Ruiz struggled at Fulham, but he flourished when he went on loan to PSV Eindhoven and that will be a boost to his confidence, which is good for Costa Rica.
Beating the semi-finalists of the last World Cup, Costa Rica had their brightest moment in World Cup history. It was their first win in a World Cup against a South American team.
And now they beat mighty Italy, eliminating England in the process.
Who would have thunk it?
