France v. Uruguay: Les Bleus Could Have It Tough

One of the first games of the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be a France v. Uruguay and, despite the disparity in France' odds to win the World Cup (15/1) compared to Uruguay at 100/1, the line in this matchup is not particularly inflated.

France would actually pay out US$11.50 for every US$10 bet with a win on Friday while Uruguay would pay out US$24.

"A Uruguay win would be an upset but not exactly a shock," points out Alistair Prescott of Gambling911.com.

That's because France has won all but one of their five games against Uruguay, losing twice and drawing twice.  Incidentally, the draw would pay out US$22 on a US$10 bet.

The last two matches between these two countries have ended goalless.

Something else to keep in mind though: Uruguay have won none of their last 12 World Cup clashes with European sides, scoring just five goals in those matches.  They have won just one of their last 16 finals matches.
