France World Cup Disgrace: Still Favored Over South Africa
Despite a protest by French team at the 2010 World Cup after the ejection of a player, France was still a small favorite to beat South Africa in their Tuesday matchup.
Bookmaker.com had France' World Cup odds at +125 paying US$12.50 for every US$10 bet.
"Who would want to bet on France?" asks Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com. "You'd have to be nuts."
The better bet might be South Africa paying US$12.50 for every US$10 bet.
"This is a difficult bet to pass up considering that the France team is imploding before our very eyes," Shapiro added.
The betting action on this game was pretty even all things considered. Around 10 percent of the betting public was on the draw, which would pay out US$22.
South Africa's odds are long after performing so poorly in their last game.
The France scandal, which was sparked by Nicolas Anelka being sent home for insulting coach Raymond Domenech, deepened on Monday when Domenech said some of the rebels might be unwilling to even play on Tuesday.
Sports Minister Roselyne Bachelot, dispatched by President Nicolas Sarkozy to try to end the shambles, told the players they had tarnished the nation's image.
This game goes off the same time as Uruguay vs. Mexico.
