Germany Early World Cup Exit Great for Bookmakers

Germany accounted for better than a quarter of all World Cup outright win bets at some bookmakers.  Their early ouster resulted in some excellent results already for the bookmakers.

Germany, along with Brazil, were early favorites to win this year's World Cup.

William Hill put it best in describing Germany's dreadful play this month:

2014 – Germany were losing for a total of 8 minutes in the entire tournament

2018 – Germany were winning for a total of 1 minute in the entire tournament

England, long a disappointment in past World Cups, had their odds shorten to 8/1 immediately following Germany's exit.

Brazil, Spain and Belgium were favorites at between 4/1 and 6/1.
