Heavily favored Germany was getting 90 percent of the backing from the betting public in its matchup against lowly Australia Sunday afternoon.

Germany came in as the -250 favorite while Australia would pay out US$67.50 for every US$10 bet with a Biblical upset.   The draw would pay just over 3/1 odds.

Gambling911.com special contributor Greg Tingle said of his native Australian team:  "They don't stand a chance in Hell of winning."

He's probably right.  Only 4 percent of the gambling public thinks otherwise.

The BBC writes in regard to this matchup: "This is the youngest squad the Germans have sent to a World Cup for 76 years. Only three players are over the age of 30 and there are five members of the side who won the 2009 Under-21 European Championship in the squad. Most expect the German young legs to beat the Aussie old heads, but don't be surprised if it's not pretty to watch."
