Uruguay vs. Mexico World Cup Odds

Uruguay vs. Mexico World Cup odds were set at Uruguay +320 (pays US$32 for every US$10 bet) and Mexico +260 (pays US$26 for every US$10 bet) with the draw a rare favorite at -150 at SBG Global

This one goes off Tuesday, 10 am Eastern - ESPN

Mexico and Uruguay meet on Tuesday with the top spot in Group A on the line.  Both teams have four points so the winner advances to the knockout round while the loser may also advance depending upon what happens with the match between France and South Africa.  If Mexico and Uruguay play to a draw they will both advance to the round of 16.

Normally in a World Cup match with a draw being enough to advance, the game might be slow and deliberate but Mexico doesn't know how to do anything other than attack. They are a fun team to watch and there should be some scoring chances in this match.  The winner of this match gets a huge break in the round of 16 since they would avoid having to play Argentina.   That should be incentive enough for both teams since Argentina is playing as well as any team in the World Cup. The Group A winner would get the second place team from Group B which is likely to be either South Korea or Greece. That is a far easier matchup than going against Argentina.  If this match between Mexico and Uruguay ends in a draw then both teams advance with Uruguay winning the group.

The question for Mexico is just how good they are.  They drew against a poor South Africa team and then beat a France team that is in total disarray.  Uruguay will give them a much better idea of where they stand. Uruguay has yet to give up a goal in the World Cup as they played to a scoreless draw against France and then routed South Africa by a score of 3-0.   Uruguay is very confident they can beat Mexico and win the group.  Uruguay made it to the semifinals back in 1970 and they believe they can get there again this time. Uruguay has some definite talent led by Diego Forlan who can impact every match and Luis Suarez who can make open up an opposing defense. Uruguay is also solid on the back line led by Diego Lugano and Diego Godin. Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez believes his team can play even better than they did in the 3-0 win against South Africa.
