Carrie Stroup here and there is more to betting on World Cup matchups than simply placing a wager on which side will win.  Case in point:  USA vs. Portugal.  At Sportsbook.com there is a whole menu of wagering options (as seen by scrolling down), some of which offer huge payouts.

Player prop bets are among the more popular.

Cristiano Ronaldo will see plenty of bets, primarily on whether he scores the first goal.  Ronaldo pays almost US$20 for every US$10 bet should he score first.

Ronaldo loses value with the Scoring Anytime bet where you’ll need US$20 to win US$10 (the $20 is refunded only if he scores a goal at any time during the game). Of course, the odds are pretty good he will.

In case you were wondering, Clint Dempsey scoring anytime pays US$20 on a US$10 bet.

The Margin of Victory and Correct Score betting pay top dollar.  USA winning 1-0 as an example would pay out US$1000 on a US$100 bet.

Portugal by one goal pays nearly 3-1 odds.

USA by one goal pays nearly 5-1 odds or US$50 for every US$10 bet.

Keep in mind that entering this game there was some question concerning Ronaldo’s injured knee.

Below are all prop bets being offered at Sportsbook.com on USA vs. Portugal.
