Wayne Rooney Waxed Chest: Samson Caused England World Cup Loss?

British tabloid claims England star lost his powers after having his chest waxed.

In the Bible, Sampson Σαμψών (Greek) is the third to last of the Judges of the ancient Children of Israel mentioned in the Tanakh (the Hebrew bible), and the Talmud. He is described in the Book of Judges chapters 13 to 16.

He is best known in modern times as having lost all his powers after all his hair was cut off while sleeping.  He regained his powers upon growing his hair back.

The British tabloids have taken note, suggesting now that Wayne Rooney might be England's Samson following the football team's biblical loss to Germany on Sunday in the knockout stage of the World Cup.

Rooney, while thinning a bit up top, still has hair on his head.  That's not the problem.

Like a number of footballers do at the completion of a match, Rooney removed his shirt, revealing a waxed chest.

"Rooney is normally seen with a much hairier chest and for yesterday's match he had also abandoned his normal stubble for a clean-shaven look.," The Daily Mail pointed out on Monday.

It remained unclear as to whether Rooney shaved off other portions of his body.

But there you have it, the reason England lost to Germany on Sunday at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
