World Cup France: Nicolas Anelka Hall of Shame

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is being marred by team controversies, the most significant of which is that revolving around Team France.

The LA Times suggests that France' Nicolas Anelka should be inducted into the Hall of Shame, assuming there was one.  Anelka was shipped off to France after a profanity-laced tirade against France's head coach.   This resulted in teammates protesting and refusing to practice.  There is still some question as to whether all players will show up on Tuesday.  Despite all of this controversy, France still comes in as the +125 favorite in their Tuesday matchup against South Africa, which essentially serves as testament to how bad oddsmakers believe the World Cup host team is.

Manager Raymond Domenech said: "The players have wasted a lot of energy outside sport. Only their actions will speak louder than their words.

"If they realise the magnitude of what they have done, they will now play their hearts out. Our reputation will be on view in this game and will be determined by the outcome."

Much controversy surrounded the French team coming into the World Cup following a blatant handball by star Thierry Henry that kept the Irish team out of the big game and sent France to South Africa.  Now this!
