Job security for NFL head coaches is volatile.
In 2025, Brian Callahan of the Tennessee Titans became the first coach dismissed. He was replaced this offseason by Robert Saleh—who was himself the first coach fired during the 2024 season with the New York Jets.
Similarly, the Las Vegas Raiders kicked off the 2023 firing cycle by dismissing Josh McDaniels; after a brief stint with Pete Carroll, the team enters this year led by Klint Kubiak.
In a league where a single soft schedule or strong draft can spark an instant turnaround, front offices have zero patience.
BetOnline Sports & Casino opened its "First Head Coach Fired" market on August 10. Early money has already shifted the board: initial favorite Aaron Glenn has been surpassed by Dan Quinn.
The oddsmakers did say this year was harder to do than others as there are so many first- and second-year coaches, plus some coaches who can seemingly stay as long as they want (Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay, Andy Reid).
