These Are the Five Most Downloaded Online Lottery Website
James McLoughlin, the self-proclaimed "Acquisition Assassin", is at it once again with some amazing new data. This time he focused on the five most downloaded online lottery websites.
More recently, McLoughlin offered some excellent stats on Daily Fantasy Sports apps. This is an industry we monitor and cover closely. To be perfectly honest, lotteries are probably the least focused on concepts here at Gambling911.com. Yet we've got friends in the concept who swear by how successful they are. McLoughlin's data seems to support this notion.
His findings: Jackpocket is the single most downloaded online lottery.
Never heard of them here but they're obviously huge. But BetMGM huge?
"National online pioneer with the strongest brand in the category," McLoughlin claims. "They have significantly more downloads than BetMGM & bet365 in the same period!"
Next up is a state lottery and it shouldn't be any surprise which U.S. state. That would be California.
Fun Fact: California's GDP in 2022 was $3.6T, that number is an incredible 14.3% of the total U.S. economy, ranking it No. 1. If California were a country, it would be the 5th largest economy in the world. So next time one of your friends suggests we might be better off if California secedes from the U.S., let them know the reality.
McLoughlin writes of the California Lottery:
"List most state lotteries, it's government-run. This means a heavy salary cap (nearly 500 staff vs Jackpocket's 164). Average marketing, average tech. But an insane revenue driver for the State of California, supporting their schools.
"4k downloads per day reflects the size of the state! And Jackpocket aren't licensed to operate."
Texas and Florida follow as the 3rd and 4th most downloaded. The Sunshine State beats out New York as it became the third most populous state, beating out NY, back in 2014. McLoughlin also observes that the New York Lottery is "soft". He's not exactly impressed with Florida's product, though we can say they advertise heavily in the state.
"The app listing and brand is weak but are still bringing tremendous revenue to the non-sports betting state.
"Hard Rock Digital is going to put up Jokic numbers when they are finally allowed to launch."
Fun Fact: Florida Lottery peak revenue hit $5.7M in 2022. California Lottery sales? These were more than $8.85 billion in fiscal year 2021-22
Rounding out his list is Lottery Scanner & Checker, which saw 500,000 downloads over the last 12 months.
Just like with the regulated mobile sportsbooks and Daily Fantasy Sports sites in the U.S., some of these online lotteries are not accessible in certain states. Case in point, Jackpocket is only available in 15 states currently. These include Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.
