Talk about writing off a team so quickly!  The Ohio State Buckeyes entered this past weekend with 3/1 odds of winning the 2011 BCS Championship and this week have been downgraded to 50/1 odds.  Great for bettors who can receive a payout of $5000 on every $100 bet if the Buckeyes do win the BCS Championship.

Ohio State was all the rage last week.  Yet a Wisconsin win (and the Buckeyes first loss of the season) was somewhat anticipated, Gambling911.com’s own Don Shapiro points out.

“We published the stats and Wisconsin came into this game with at least a 75 percent edge I would estimate,” Shapiro says.

Among the stand out stats favoring Wisconsin: They were 40-4 since the 2004 season at home coming into their game against the Buckeyes and were 25-3 in night games.

“So suddenly they are relegated to 50/1 odds of winning the 2011 BCS Championship?” Shapiro questions.

The Badgers beat Ohio State by a score of 31-18, thanks mostly to John Clay running for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

This is certainly a good time for Ohio State backers to bet their favorite team.

The same held true last week for Alabama, which is once again a near 3/1 favorite to win the Championship.  Following a loss to South Carolina, Alabama’s odds became 8/1.

Oregon and Oklahoma now sit atop the BCS Standings witheach having 3/1 odds of winning the championship game. – Ean Lamb, Gambling911.com
