The Alabama Crimson Tide spread remains amongst the more steady of Saturday’s Week 6 College Football games at Alabama -7 although a handful of online sportsbooks were still offering the line at -7 1/2.

There is a reason that some books are taking this spread to -7 ½, thus encouraging betting action on the South Carolina Gamecocks.  Close to 93 percent of the spread betting was on Alabama as of Friday afternoon.  The Crimson Tide spread remains the single most bet on of any side or total this week at the online sportsbooks.

“It’s interesting to see the books moving to -7 ½ and not pushing the line further up to say -8,” commented Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.

As recently as Thursday we saw the Crimson Tide dip to -6 ½.

But can Alabama really cover?

So far this year, the Tide are 4-1 Against The Spread compared to 2-2 ATS for South Carolina.  They are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 road games and 6-1 over the past three seasons when the totalis between 42.5 and 49.  Only 10 times in the past three seasons have the Crimson Tide failed to cover.  Three of those games were as a favorite of 3.5 to 10 points.

The 7-point Alabama Crimson Tide spread was available at BetED.com, which was currently paying 50 percent cash on your first bet if it is a winner (up to $250).  Ean Lamb reporting.
