According to odds comparison OddsChecker.com, Belgium was seeing the most betting action for the 2014 FIFA World Cup outrights with odds ranging from 14/1 to 20/1 throughout Europe.  Bookmaker was offering an incredible 22/1 odds on Belgium here.

Those bookmakers catering to the North American market tended to offer future odds on the lower end of that spectrum with the noteworthy exception of Bookmaker.

While Brazil at 3/1 odds was the favorite followed by Argentina, Germany and Spain, it was Belgium seeing the most action at a 23% clip throughout Europe followed by Germany seeing 18%.  Germany had odds of 5/1 to win the FIFA World Cup across the board in both Europe and North America.

Belgium’s resurgence in this year’s World Cup makes this EU host nation something of a sentimental favorite and apparently the punters are being drawn in as well.

A few years ago the notion of Belgium as fifth favourites to win a World Cup ahead of France, Italy and England would have seemed ludicrous even to the country's most ardent supporters, the AFP news agency suggested.  Belgium failed to quality in the last two FIFA World Cups.
