Houston, which had one of the best records in the league throughout much of the regular season, dropped from a number one seed to number three seed during Week 17. The Texans will enter this Wildcard Playoffs game having lost three of their last four.
"We had a great opportunity the last two weeks, but we won't feel sorry for ourselves," Texans coach Gary Kubiak said after his team was upset by the Colts Sunday. "We'll focus on keeping our confidence up, even if we have to play next week."
The Texans will face a Bengals team that is 10-6 and was not widely expected to make a Playoffs run entering the 2012 regular NFL season. Cincinnati pulled it off by winning three straight while the Steelers dropped out of the Playoffs run last week.
Cincinnati did lose 31-10 to the Texans during the first round of last year’s Playoffs.
"I think it will be good," said Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton. "We played there last year and know the atmosphere and what it's going to be like. The experience last year will definitely help us."
