Black Monday is here!  Falling between Christmas Day and New Years Day this year, one or more NFL head coaches are about to meet their demise.  BetOnline.com, one of the world’s largest online sportsbooks, was offering odds on the OVER/UNDER number of head coaches that will be fired.

BetOnline

BOL had an OVER/UNDER of 4.5 NFL head coaches getting the boot with the UNDER set as the favorite at -130.  The OVER had even odds.

BetOnline’s wagering option covers, not just Black Monday, but the entire week leading up to the Wildcard Playoffs.

For those of you keeping score, Mike Shanahan in Washington would seem to be a lock for getting the boot Monday.  Whether he is the first remains to be seen.  Daniel Snyder, the Redskins’ owner, has never had a coach stick around for five years, and that trend will most certainly continue.

Fox Sports Jay Glazier confirmed that Minnesota Vikings Coach Leslie Frazier will be out.  Rex Ryan of the Jets is expected to be fired though nothing is set in concrete.  Greg Schiano of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is another name being thrown around following a dismal season.

Mike Munchak of the Tennessee Titans, Dennis Allen in Oakland and Jim Schwartz in Detroit are also in the hot seat.  Munchak has been with the Titans organization since their Houston days (formerly as a player).

Jason Garrett, head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, will likely be out with a Dallas loss on Sunday.

Joe Philbin and Tom Coughlin are wild cards but have long odds of being fired, especially if they can win in Week 17.

Falcons head coach Mike Smith is likely to overcome a 4-11 disaster as well, though he can't exactly be ruled out as a Black Monday casualty.

Last year, seven head coaches were dismissed on Black Monday alone.
