With more than 10 times the bets coming in on New England in the Sunday Night Football Seahawks-Patriots showdown, bookies around the world were all saying a quick prayer.

“We need this one bad!” one bookie tells Gambling911.com.  “So much exposure”.

The books were looking at just over 70 percent of the spread betting action on New England and just under 80 percent of the money line action on the Pats.

Most of the books had moved back to Patriots -7.5 and encouraging early action on New England by holding at -7.  No book had taken this one beyond 7.5.

Seattle stunned New England with a seven-point victory after the Patriots failed to get it in the end zone in the final seconds.

It turned into an amazing day for the books.

The books enjoyed a successful first half of the day with both heavily wagered on Green Bay and Atlanta failing to win as favorites.

But the Patriots-Seahawks Sunday Night game was expected to be one of the most bet on of the 2016 regular season with New England seeing enough substantial volume to wipe away earlier day wins.

To date, the Patriots have left bookmakers crippled, covering in all but one game this season.  New England has ranked among the top three most bet on sides nearly every week outside of last week's bye.

How Do Bookies Make Money?

Back in the day, a corner bookie had to work 60 hours a week or more. Today's bookmaker spends more time on the beach courtesy of their friend the Pay Per Head platform. And here is the best part: They have the ability to make double the income than when they were putting in those 60+ hours a week.
