Books Take Slight Hit as We Head Deeper Into Bowl Season

The books had an opinion on San Diego State Wednesday and they looked awful.  It was a rare loss for sportsbooks with better than 60% of spread bets on Ohio.

San Diego State got shut out 27-0 in this one.

The books had moved the line from Bobcats -3 to -2 and interest in this game was heavy based on Gambling911.com late afternoon traffic.  We moved the Aztecs chances of covering that spread from 55% to 60% as a result.

Other indicators such as Sagarin suggested Ohio should have been a -6 point favorite.

ESPN.com's Will Harris also believed the Bobcats were the better team.

Maybe the books just want to keep their customers happy by providing them with this gift, and it was certainly a gift.

On tap next, Marshall takes on South Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl.  The line on this game opened at Marshall -2.5 and has moved to -3. 65% of the spread action was on the Thundering Herd so the line is moving in accordance with the action thus far.
