Bookmaker.com has posted odds on the Minnesota Vikings winning the NFC North paying just better than even money, with or without Brett Favre (see website here).  Favre’s former team, the Green Bay Packers, were -140 favorites

It remains to be seen whether Brett Favre will return to the Vikings this coming season.  He insisted on Tuesday there was no deadline set for a decision.

Vikings head coach stopped by Favre’s Hattiesburg, Mississippi home en route back from a Florida vacation but Favre would not elaborate on his future.

“Our visit was great," Favre told USA Today. "I think the world of him (and) his patience. He and I joked about how there were some rocky times (between them) last year. ... We're both competitors, that happens."

Favre and Childress had a very public spat in December last season after the two of them argued over play-calling in a loss at Carolina. They resolved their differences and the Vikings advanced to the NFC title game, where they lost in overtime.

Favre injured his ankle during that game and recovery has taken longer than expected.

"After almost nine weeks, it's not where I would like it to be, but I'm working at it," he said. "Maybe it never gets to where I want it to be. Forty years old ... three surgeries ... that's all you need to know."

Childress insists he will not pressure Favre into making a decision.

"The deadline? I don't know," Favre said. "There obviously comes a point where you've probably gone too far, where you just have to move on. He hopes I make the right decision for myself, one way or the other."

Backup quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels would likely steer Minnesota to another winning season, but the Vikings odds will most certainly be made longer should Favre ultimately decide not to return.
