Clemson Win Not All Smiles for Bookies: Most Bet on College Football Game

In an effort to encourage betting action on the Alabama Crimson Tide Monday night, BetOnline was one of the only books to bring the line down to -4.5 with the competition holding at -6.5.

“That was a ballsy move,” suggests Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.  “Last year’s game fell on Alabama 5.  A similar result would have resulted in a middling opportunity and could have proven disastrous for BetOnline”

But Dave Mason of BetOnline did offer some revealing insight into why he opted to drive the line down to Bama -4.5.

59% of cash was on Clemson when the spread was at +6.5 while 84% of money line bets were on Clemson with a price of +195.  It should also be noted that 65% of cash was on the OVER 51.

A final second touchdown by the Tigers to win the Championship turned into an absolute nail biter for books and sports bettors alike.

Mason has confirmed this to be the most wagered on College Football game in BetOnline’s 18 year history.
