Colts Super Bowl Odds – 2014 at 30-1
The Colts Super Bowl odds for 2014 were listed at 30-1 despite a strong showing last year. Led by Andrew Luck, Indianapolis became the surprise success story of the 2012 regular season.
The question is, Can they repeat that success?
The schedule permits the Colts to start the season off 4-1 with two home games against Oakland and Miami and Weeks 1 and 2, respectively. In Week 4 they head to Jacksonville and Week 5 host the Seattle Seahawks, who sometimes travel on the road going across the Mississippi River. A Week 3 game in San Francisco should present the greatest challenge for these Colts.
Overall, there are only 6 games that will be played against teams that played over .500 last season. On paper, at least, the Colts should be able to beat both division teams, the Titans and Jaguars, at home and on the road to notch an easy four victories.
A schedule means nothing, however, if a team loses some integral components.
In the case of Indianapolis, they gained some talent on the offensive line, which last year allowed 41 sacks of Andrew Luck. The additions of Gosder Cherilus and guard Donald Thomas should help reduce that total.
There is little evidence to suggest this team is on the downward spiral even with the loss of outside linebacker Dwight Freeney.
