Dodgers Odds to Win 2012 World Series at 10-1 Despite Blockbuster Trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers odds of winning the 2012 World Series were just shy of 10-1 following news of a blockbuster 9-man trade.  BetDSI.com was still offering the Dodgers at these great odds but they were expected to be slashed further if not locked in here as quickly as possible.  The Dodgers odds had been at 12/1 prior to reports about the deal on Friday.

The blockbuster trade between the Dodgers and Boston Red Sox would see Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto going to Los Angeles.  The deal was expected to become official by Saturday afternoon, according to ESPN sources.

The Red Sox will get pitcher Rubby De La Rosa, first baseman James Loney and prospects Ivan De Jesus (infielder), Jerry Sands (outfielder) and another prospect that is not yet known.

"Hopefully this deal will go through today," Red Sox chairman Tom Werner said Saturday morning. "If it falls into place, the deal sheds us from tens of millions of dollars of long-term commitments. It gets us great prospects who will improve our major league roster as soon as next year. It brings us a player in James Loney who was 'untouchable' a couple of years ago. It allows us to start over with free agents. We want to win for our fans and we now have huge financial flexibility to improve the team."

The Dodgers are very much in the hunt for a postseason spot.  They are just 3 games behind the National League West leading San Francisco Giants.  Only 5 other teams in the National League have better records than Los Angeles.
