The Fiesta Bowl Connecticut vs. Oklahoma line had dropped down to -16 in favor of Oklahoma at BetDSI.com heading into game day Saturday.  Nearly 70 percent of the spread action was on Oklahoma while 85 percent of the money line backing was on the Sooners.

This is the first meeting ever between these schools.

Michael Robinson of DonBest.com predicted that the Sooners would easily cover the 16-point spread.

“The question is whether Connecticut can have success running the ball and keep the powerful Okalahoma offense on the sidelines. The Sooners have had some trouble stopping the run (151.8 YPG, 62nd nationally), but will stack the line of scrimmage and force Frazer to beat them.  That’s not very likely and I see Oklahoma taking out all its previous BCS frustrations with a 20-plus point win.”

DonBest.com’s Robinson also noted that a main issue with Oklahoma right now is dealing with a coaching change. Offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson was named head coach at Indiana and will stay with Oklahoma through the Fiesta Bowl as tight ends and fullbacks coach. Bob Stoops has named two offensive coordinators, Josh Heupel and Jay Norvell, but Heupel will call the plays.

There is something else to be concerned over:  The Sooners were in five BCS bowls between the 2003-2008 seasons and went 0-5 Straight Up and Against The Spread Three of those losses were for the national championship.

The Huskies are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games overall.  They are 36-16-1 ATS in their last 53 non-conference games.  The Sooners are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games.
