Green Bay Packers Now Runaway Favorites to Win NFC North
What a difference a week makes. The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings were in a deadlock as favorites to win the 2010 NFC North coming into this season. Following a road loss to the reigning Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, the Vikings are now listed with nearly 3/1 odds of winning the NFC North. The Packers now require $19 to win $10 at BetUS.com (the $19 is refunded should Green Bay win the NFC North).
“I think it may be a little too early to jump on the Packers Super Bowl and Division Champion bandwagon just yet,” suggests Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com. “The Vikings may have lost, but they played it tight against the current Super Bowl champs in a hostile stadium. Green Bay nearly blew its lead against a team that looked horrendous in the first half and came back strong with Michael Vick as the replacement quarterback.”
The Packers this week managed to sit atop the Gambling911.com NFL Power Rankings because their odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl were slightly shorter than that of the Saints. Those odds were 7/1 compared to the Saints at +850 or 8.5/1.
The Detroit Lions looked impressive this past week against the Chicago Bears on the road. They were at 40/1 to win the NFC North. Chicago was at +450. The Lions, who probably should have won that game against the Bears this past Sunday, would pay out $400 for every $10 bet if they were to somehow win the NFC North.
