Monday, 8:35 pm Eastern – ESPN

A battle for the top of the AFC South is on tap for Monday night as the Indianapolis Colts host the Houston Texans. It is a rematch of the NFL season opener in which Arian Foster ran all over the Colts in a 34-24 win.  It should be an entertaining game as both teams have high-powered offenses and suspect defenses. This is a very important game for the Colts because if they lose they would fall a game back of Houston and they would have been swept by the Texans.

Indianapolis is a 5.5 point favorite with a total of 51 at SBG Global.

The Colts do have some injury issues as tight end Dallas Clark is out for the season while wide receiver Austin Collie is out for at least a few weeks. The Colts still have Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon for Peyton Manning to throw to and Anthony Gonzalez returns this week. The running back situation could be more of a problem for the Colts.  Joseph Addai is out so it will be up to Donald Brown and Mike Hart to fill in.

The Texans suffered an injury of their own that is going under the radar a little bit.  Middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans was injured and is now out for the season.  It will force Brian Cushing to move into the middle and while he is a great linebacker it may take him some time to adjust.

It could be the last team to have the ball in this NFL game wins. The Texans can’t stop anyone as they are dead last in yards allowed per game and 29th in points allowed. The Colts are 21st overall and 15th in points allowed. Indianapolis has not been swept by a division opponent since 2002. The Texans have never won at Indianapolis and they are facing a Colts team that is 53-13 at home since 2002.

Here are the football betting statsfor Monday’s game. The Texans are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a road underdog. The Texans are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the AFC.

The Colts are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Monday games. The Colts are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games. The Colts are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite. The Colts are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 vs. the AFC.

The Under is 9-3-1 in the Texans last 13 road games. The Over is 5-2-1 in the Texans last 8 games overall. The Over is 9-4 in the Colts last 13 games overall. The Over is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings between the two teams.
