Indianapolis Colts vs. St. Louis Rams Odds: Colts Huge Road Fav

Gamblers continued to hit the favorite hard even with the Indianapolis Colts vs. St. Louis Rams odds featuring a Colts team that was favored by up to -14 on the road.  BetED.com did still list Indianapolis with odds of -13 at press time early Wednesday afternoon.  Nearly 100 percent of the spread action was on the Colts spread while, strangely enough, around 60 percent of the money line action was going towards the Rams.  A St. Louis outright win on the money line would pay around $600 for every $100 bet.  Fresh in some sports bettors mind is the Oakland Raiders shocking upset of the heavily favored Philadelphia Eagles last week.

The line on this game opened at -11 ½ and has been moving up ever since.  We will have to wait and see if any books push this over -14 ½.  Both recreational and wise guy books are listing this one at -14, though the majority of books had the Colts at either -13 or -13 ½. 

In the last meeting between these two teams, Edgerrin James rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Colts past the Rams, 45-28, in Week 6 of 2005.

If the Rams are going to have any chance of stopping Peyton Manning, their second overall pick of 2008, Chris Long, will need to generate pressure.  In 22 games, Long has only four sacks.  He finally got his first start last week but Manning remains the least-sacked Quarterback in the league.
