Jaguars-Colts Line

The oddsmakers have assigned the number 3 to the Jaguars-Colts line.  The spread on this game is steady across the board including in Vegas.

Tony Bryant of BetOnline.com offered some insight into why this line was not longer for a divisional home team that has two impressive wins over Baltimore and Tennessee, albeit they are only 2-6.

“Unlike the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans, the Jaguars haven’t been able to capitalize on the Colts not contending this season, and have fallen to 2-6 overall. Jacksonville has scored notable wins over the Titans and Baltimore Ravens this season, but they could be in tough against a desperate Indianapolis team.”

The Colts have beaten Jacksonville 4 out of the last 5 games.  Those wins, of course, included Peyton Manning as the quarterback.  He is out for the season, contributing to the Colts lack of wins.

“(This) may be the Colts’ best chance left to get in the win column this season,” Bryant suggested.  “Look for Indianapolis to come out running the ball early and often, and rely on a strong effort from their defense to put themselves in a position to finally earn an NFL victory.”

The head coach search has become somewhat clouded in Jacksonville and Las Vegas considering one dismissed its GM yesterday and the other hired a GM on Wednesday. Both potentially open the door for Liam Coen should he not sign extension with the Bucs.
