Local Chicago media outlets are reporting that Bears starting quarterback Jay Cutler could be out for the remainder of the regular NFL season with a broken thumb as surgery may be required.

The Bears were likely to have opened as a -3.5 road favorite heading into Oakland.  Now the Raiders were anywhere from a -4.5 to -5 point favorite at home.

Cutler broke the thumb in his throwing hand in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 31-20 victory over the San Diego Chargers.

Cutler will undergo further tests during the next day. But there is a concern his season could be over.

Backup Caleb Hanie will get the start for the Bears.
