To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?

With just under 24 hours left until this year's NFL Draft, there is buzz about McCarthy possibly being selected higher than initially expected.

It's difficult finding over/under bets for McCarthy.  There are the exact order bets that still don't show McCarthy at No. 3.

There are those who think the Chargers will draft McCarthy.  After all, former Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh is now coaching in LA. The Chargers have the fifth pick in the NFL Draft when Round 1 begins April 25 in Detroit. The Chargers own nine picks in the seven-round draft.

ESPN's Adam Schefter: "I say there's a sucker born every minute because there's no chance in hell that the Chargers are drafting a quarterback tomorrow night. None. Not happening," Schefter said Wednesday morning on ESPN's Get Up.

"Now, would Jim Harbaugh love to have [J.J. McCarthy]? Sure," Schefter continued. "They just signed Justin Herbert to a contract extension last summer. They are not drafting J.J. McCarthy and I don't know why those odds would spike like that.

"Might there be a quarterback that goes at the No. 5 spot? Yes, I could see the Chargers trading their spot to a team that wants to move into that spot to go draft maybe J.J. McCarthy. That certainly is possible but the Los Angeles Chargers will not, will not, will not draft a quarterback at No. 5 on Thursday night."

It should be noted that the Chargers are not even listed among the odds of selecting McCarthy found at BetOnline as of Wednesday afternoon.
