The line on the 2018 College Football Championship opened at Crimson Tide -4.5 will little movement over the first 8 hours.

Online sportsbooks opened the line shortly after 1:30 am EST Tuesday morning while the Westgate in Vegas mimicked the line shortly after 8:30 am EST.

Alabama crushed Clemson in its College Football Playoffs game Monday night 24-6.

A pair of Alabama defensive players scored touchdowns 13 seconds apart in the third quarter, helping the Crimson Tide to advance.

t began with 308-pound defensive tackle Da'Ron Payne picking off a wobbly pass after besieged Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant was hit as he threw. Payne rumbled 21 yards on the return, shedding one would-be tackler with a deft open-field move and drawing a 15-yard personal foul penalty when he was finally dragged down with a horse collar tackle.

After Alabama drove to a first down at the Clemson 1, Payne re-entered the game -- presumably to add another big body for blocking purposes. Instead, he slipped open near the right pylon on a play fake and hauled in a touchdown pass, even managing to get both feet down before the celebration commenced beyond the sideline.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, beat Oklahoma 54-48 in a game that was much more competitive.

Sony Michel burst through the line for a 27-yard touchdown run to give No. 3 Georgia the victory.

Alabama last faced UGA in October 2015, finishing with a 38-10 victory.  The College Football Betting Power Ratings indicates that the line should be no more than Crimson Tide -3.5 here, thus the shading by one point is quite obvious early on.

The Bulldogs receiver Charlie Woerner, who has nine catches for 100 yards, left the Rose Bowl using crutches because of a left foot or ankle injury. His status for the CFP National Championship wasn't immediately known.

This game will be played Monday January 8 at 9 pm EST on ESPN.
