Pinnacle Sports actually opened the 2013 NCAA Championship game at Alabama -7.5.  The Mirage in Vegas opened at -8.  The LVH Hotel in Las Vegas opened this game at -10 and has since dropped the number to -9.

Weeks before this game was determined, some oddsmakers had already begun posting a betable line on this matchup.  The matchup became official on December 2.

''The tradition of Alabama and Notre Dame brings special attention to it, but we're just trying to be the best team on Monday, Jan. 7,'' Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said. ''All of that tradition, what's happened in the past, is not going to help us Jan. 7, but we do respect the traditions.''

While Alabama was among the favorites to win the 2013 BCS Championship coming into this season, Notre Dame was a bit of a long shot at 25-1 odds.
