A Look at NFL Football Week 13 Lines
Last week I wrote about a larger than ordinary amount of double-digit spreads in the NFL this season. There have been 25 games so far with a spread of 10 or more, including five last week. Favorites as a whole murdered bookies last weekend, but overall the double-digit spreads have been pretty even. So where are the numbers this week?
NFL Week 13 has two games with double-digit spreads. Can you guess who the favorites are? I bet you can’t. It’s the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers. That’s right; the only two teams that are favored by 10 or more are the Jags (-10) at home to the Colts with the Chargers a 14-point home favorite against the Cleveland Browns.
The Jaguars opened a 9.5-point favorite, but have been bet up to 10. The Chargers opened at 13, and can be found at some sportsbooks at 13.5 currently, but my online sportsbook got them at -14.
Is this the week the books bounce back after what has been a terrible year? There are six games with spreads of three or less, with eleven of the 15 Sunday games all within one score.
There are a few lines and moves that have caught my eye. The Chiefs opened as a 5-point road favorite against the Jets, but has moved to -3. I really don’t know what to think of either of these teams. After winning their first five games, the Chiefs have lost five of their last 6, including their last three. They are a well coached team that is balanced on both sides of the ball.
Then we have the Jets. They weren’t even supposed to win a game this season. Although they also have lost 5 of their last six, they have been within one score in each of those losses, and really should have beaten a good Carolina squad last week.
The top three games on my sportsbook’s odds list are very interesting to me. Lions at Ravens, 49ers at Bears and Vikings at Falcons. The home team in these three games are all 3-point favorites. If you go by the old rule that the home team always gets 3-points for home field advantage, these are all basically Pick Em’s.

These three pairs of teams are very close. The Lions and Ravens both have identical records, both Straight Up (6-5) and Against the Spread (5-5-1). Just because they have the same numbers doesn’t mean they are getting there the same way. The Ravens are doing it on defense, ranking 6th in total team defense, but are struggling on offense rankings 31st.
The Lions haven’t really excelled on either side of the ball, rankings 16th in total offense and 24th in total defense. Baltimore and Detroit have only played each other five times, with the last one coming almost four years ago in December of 2013. The Ravens hold a slight edge with a 3-2 record both SU and ATS.
The other two are also very intriguing, as the 49ers and Bears are both starting their future at QB, while the Falcons and Vikings are both playing great ball right now.
Come back Monday morning when I will dig deep into the numbers that came out of Week 13. If you have any predictions please comment in the section below. Let’s keep beating the book sports bettors!
