The Miami Dolphins 2012 odds of winning the AFC East were 18-1 amidst reports that the franchise has named Ryan Tannehill as its starting quarterback. The Dolphins were still favored at -150 to win UNDER 7 regular season games while the OVER currently would pay $12.00 on every $10 bet. 78 percent of those betting the total regular season wins prior to today’s announcement regarding Tannehill were backing the UNDER.
“We feel like this is the best decision for our football team,” Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said Monday during the team’s daily press conference.
David Garrard, who was originally slated to start as quarterback, will be out for a number of weeks while recovering from knee surgery.
Matt Moore, the other Dolphins quarterback, will act as backup.
The reviews of Tannehill's performance Friday night against the Carolina Panthers were mixed, noted Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post.
On one hand, he took three sacks, had four passes tipped, completed just 10-of-23 passes for 100 yards and punted on five of six drives. On the other, he led a beautiful 15-play touchdown drive, made some impressive reads and throws and didn’t throw an interception.
