Following the San Francisco 49ers disappointing 0-4 start to the 2010 NFL season, many pundits are speculating as to whether that team’s head coach Mike Singletary, will soon be fired.
Team and league sources last week told ESPN.com that Singletary’s job was safe.

But just because he is safe for now does not mean he is safe beyond this year. Even if the 49ers were to snap their losing streak, turn around their season and win their division, people familiar with the situation said there are no assurances that Singletary would return even though he has two years remaining on his contract after this season.
Oddsmakers remain skeptical. The folks at Bookmaker.com have made Mike Singletary a +180 favorite to be the first NFL head coach on the chopping block. That one pays $18 for every $10 bet.
