New York Jets Odds to Win AFC East, 2010 Super Bowl
Don't look now but the New York Jets are ahead in the AFC East and it's not because they are playing subpar teams. The Jets just knocked off the favorites to win the 2010 Super Bowl, the New England Patriots. Last week they beat up a Houston Texans team that beat the mighty Tennessee Titans this week. So it's time to start looking at those New York Jets odds to win the AFC East and Super Bowl.
Entering the regular season, the Jets AFC East division odds were listed at +700 or 7/1. Their odds were slashed slightly coming into this weekend but not by much since the Patriots were seen as the team that "couldn't be beat". Updated odds were to be released at SBG Global no later than Wednesday.
And what about those 2010 Super Bowl odds for the Jets?
Heading into this weekend, the Jets still promised a payout of $3000 for every $100 bet if they were to win the big one.
The Jets stopped two Patriots drives in the final five minutes of the game to improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2004 on Sunday.
The only touchdown in the game was a nine-yard pass from Mark Sanchez to Dustin Keller in the third quarter.
The Jets snapped the Patriots' nine-game win streak at the Meadowlands (eight at Jets, one at Giants) and won for just the third time in the teams' last 14 meetings including playoffs.
It was the first time New England was held without a touchdown since Dec. 10, 2006.
The victory came after a week in which Jets safety Kerry Rhodes said New York wanted to embarrass New England and coach Rex Ryan reiterated his comments that he didn't come to "kiss Bill Belichick's rings."
Ryan also sent a voicemail to season ticket holders, urging them to be loud and give the Jets an edge. The fans clearly listened as the Patriots had a difficult time with the noise and Brady was forced into consecutive delay of game penalties in the third quarter.
Things don't get any easier for the Jets next week as they will face an 0-2 Tennessee Titans that have lost tied games in the final seconds, including a Week 1 overtime loss in Pittsburgh. New York then travels to what could possibly be the best team in the league right now, New Orleans.
"If the Jets start 4-0, this is a team that has to be considered with any future bets, including the Super Bowl," commented Gambling911.com's Don Shapiro.
