New York Jets vs. Oakland Raiders Odds

The New York Jets vs. Oakland Raiders odds were sitting at Jets -6.  Only a handful of online sportsbooks offered the line at -6 ½.  Jets backers will want to bet their team at betED.com which was the only book we could find online offering odds of -5 ½.  New York was getting 80 percent of the spread action.  The line on this game opened at -7 ½ so we did see some books try to encourage money on the Jets after the initial -7 ½ offering.   Heading into Thursday this was the second most bet on game at some spots with the Colts vs. Rams still the most sought after by sports bettors.

Some things to look for in this game before placing a wager:

There is going to be some heavy blitzing.  The Jets will apply swift pressure to Oakland Quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Russell has 10 turnovers already this season and Ryan's aggressive scheme is built around forcing mistakes from the opposing quarterback and creating takeaways.

New York will focus on a ground game against a weak run defense.

While last week's upset win over Philadelphia provided a morale boost for Oakland, the New York Jets will be hungry for a win after losing three straight games.  The Jets started the season 3-0.

The Raiders will likely go with a pressure defense designed to confuse Mark Sanchez.

Sebastian Janikowsk is a strong point for Oakland who can kick some accurate field goals if need be.

The Jets are 3-1 vs. Oakland over the last 4 games.  They lost last year in overtime at Oakland.  The two previous games were Jets blowouts, but at home.  The Raiders have played the Jets well at home.  In fact, over the last 8 games at home against New York, the Raiders have won 6 while the two losses were by 3 and 2 points, respectively.

Some important New York Jets vs. Oakland Raiders odds trends to consider before betting on this game include:

The Jets are 1-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

The Jets are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite.

The Jets are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss.

Past trends and head-to-head history does not favor the Jets this weekend.  We will be staying clear of this game but if you want to bet it, be sure to check out betED.com here.
