NFL Player Reacts to Peterson Indictment: ‘I’m Probably Going to Lose My Fantasy

Atlanta Falcons receiver Roddy White has come under fire for a tweet he posted in reaction to Vikings star Adrian Peterson being indicted Friday for child endangerment.

The now-removed tweet read: "I'm probably going to lose my fantasy football matchup this week cause [Peterson] can't play Sunday for disciplining his child Jesus help us."

White later apologized.

Peterson was indicted by a grand jury in Montgomery County, Texas for Injury to a Child. The charged conduct involves using a switch and tree branch to spank his son.  Peterson turned himself in late Friday and has since been released on bond.

The Vikings immediately deactivated Peterson from Sunday’s home game against the New England Patriots causing oddsmakers to react swiftly, moving the line from Patriots -3.5 to -6 at Bookmaker.eu.  Peterson was also one of the most sought after Fantasy picks of the week prior to Friday’s news.

Some Fantasy NFL leagues have allowed customers to cut Peterson, including ESPN.

Deadspin.com notes that "Fantasy football leagues regularly maintain a "can't cut" list, to prevent players from upsetting the competitive balance of the league by dropping elite stars".
